Late Night Hosts Mock Sarah Palin, Kid Rock, Ted Nugent Visit to White House
"They are one Vanilla Ice away from the next season of 'The Celebrity Apprentice,'" said James Corden.
Kid Rock, Ted Nugent and Sarah Palin's White House visit this week was the target of multiple jokes from late-night shows on Thursday, with James Corden, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon all poking fun at the famous visitors.
Corden, in particular, seemed to enjoy the photo Trump's guests took with the president in the oval office.
"For once, Trump really was the smartest person in the room," he said, laughing, on The Late Late Show.
"Look at this photo," he exclaimed. "They are one Vanilla Ice away from the next season of The Celebrity Apprentice."
Earlier on CBS' Late Show, Colbert said, "Kim Jong-un might be dragging us into thermo-nuclear conflict. Faced with the possible annihilation of all living things yesterday President Trump met in the Oval Office with the joint chiefs, the head of the CIA, the national security advisor and the secretary of state."
He paused. "I'm just kidding. None of those people."
Colbert continued, speaking about Trump meeting with Palin, Nugent and Kid Rock. He showed the Oval Office photo and said that after they took the picture Nugent "hunted Reince Priebus with a crossbow."
Trump's three guests also posed with an official portrait of Hillary Clinton. "Nugent gave a sarcastic thumbs up, Sarah Palin did the old point-and-sneer, and you know something's weird when Kid Rock is the dignified one in the picture," said Colbert.
On NBC's Tonight Show, Fallon found the news that these three people visited Trump so amusing that he repeated it twice, saying their names a second time. "Sarah Palin, Ted Nugent and Kid Rock." Then, he added, "Or as they're more commonly known: the 'Redneck Holy Trinity.'"
"This really happened," said Fallon, showing the picture as evidence.
"They were going to do a silly one and then they realized that was the silly one," he joked about the picture.
