Laura Linney has joined Warner Bros.' Captain Sully movie opposite Tom Hanks.
Aaron Eckhart also is starring in the film, which Clint Eastwood will direct.
Hanks will star as Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who safely landed his plane full of 155 passengers in the Hudson River after both engines were knocked out by a flock of geese. The "Miracle on the Hudson" made national headlines in January 2009. Eckhart will play Jeff Skiles, who was the first officer and co-pilot on the Airbus A320, as THR exclusively reported.
Linney will play Sully's wife.
Todd Komarnicki will write the script, drawing from Sullenberger's life and memoir.
Eastwood, Tim Moore and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall are producing the Warner Bros. film.
Linney, teaming with Eastwood for the third time, previously worked with him on 2003's Mystic River and 1997's Absolute Power. Her recent work includes roles in Mr. Holmes and Hyde Park on Hudson. She’s got Genius with Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth coming up, as well as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. She is repped by ICM Partners, Brillstein Entertainment and Morris Yorn.
