The memorial service takes place Saturday at Hollywood's Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

This Saturday (Jan. 9), Lemmy’s friends and family will pay tribute to the late Motörhead frontman the way he would have wanted it. They’ll gather at one of his famous hangouts — Los Angeles’ legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill -— for his memorial service.

The watering hole shared the news on Jan. 2 via its official Facebook page:

After the massive response to the news from mourning fans, it was announced the Lemmy memorial would expand to encompass the entire Sunset Strip on Saturday.

Additionally, Kilmister's proper memorial service — which also will take place Saturday at Hollywood's Forest Lawn Memorial Park — will be live streamed for fans so that the physical ceremony isn't overwhelmed with people. "Motörhead is respectfully asking that fans don't attend the service at the cemetery, but the band wants everyone to be a part of this, so they are setting up a live feed of the service via the Internet on Motörhead's official YouTube channel," said a rep for the band in a statement.

Kilmister died Dec. 28 at the age of 70, just days after being diagnosed with cancer. Motörhead remained active right up until the end, releasing the studio album Bad Magic earlier in the year and touring through Dec. 11.
