Lesli Linka Glatter, Veteran TV Director, to Be Honored by AFI

The director will receive the 2016 Franklin J. Schaffner Alumni Medal.

The American Film Institute will honor alumni Lesli Linka Glatter with the  2016 Franklin J. Schaffner Alumni Medal.

Glatter, an alumna of the AFI Conservatory Directing Workshop for Women, has directed episodes of numerous critically acclaimed series, including The West Wing, ER, Freaks and Geeks, The Walking Dead and Gilmore Girls. She also directed the 1995 coming-of-age tale Now and Then.

Glatter has been nominated for four Emmys and has won two Directors Guild awards for her work on Mad Men and Homeland. Next up: Glatter is directing and executive-producing Six, History Channel's pilot about Navy SEAL Team Six.

Darren Aronofsky, David Lynch and Terrence Malick are past recipients of the medal, which is meant to honor extraordinary creative talents and their commitment to quality storytelling in film and television.  

The presentation of the Schaffner medal will take place at the AFI Life Achievement Award gala tribute to John Williams in Hollywood on June 9.
