Julia Gunn has been named vp series development and current programming at Lifetime Television.

In her new role, Gunn will be responsible for scripted series development and current programming, including the upcoming drama series "State of Mind," starring Lili Taylor. The series, from Warner Horizon Television and executive producers Greer Shephard and Michael Robin, is set to premiere in the summer.

Gunn, based in Los Angeles, will report to Lifetime senior vp original programming Maria Grasso. She joins a team that also includes Lucia Cottone, vp series development and current programming, based in Los Angeles, and Allison Wallach, vp development, who oversees projects from Lifetime's New York offices.

Gunn, whose appointment is effective immediately, was director of current programming at Warner Bros. Television from 1997-2003. At WBTV, she worked on such series as NBC's "Friends," "ER," "The West Wing" and "Third Watch." She also served as a mentor for the studio's Comedy and Drama Writers Workshops to help new writers develop, write and rewrite original spec material for television.

"I'm thrilled to have Julia bring her vast creative experience to Lifetime," Grasso said. "Her sharp taste in material, strong relationships in the creative community and her keen sense of story and character development make her a great asset to the series programming department."

Before WBTV, Gunn held several positions at ICM from 1994-97, including serving as a literary agent in the television department. Before that, she worked at Blake Edwards Television.
