Lil Wayne, Drake to Release Collaborative Record
The Young Money rappers will follow in Jay-Z and Kanye West’s footsteps after the release of their upcoming solo projects.
Jay-Z and Kanye West better watch their throne, because Lil Wayne and Drake could be after their crown.
Though the project has been long rumored, Cash Money Records founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams confirmed to XXL Magazine on Friday that Wayne and Drake have a collaborative album in the works. The project doesn’t yet have a release date, but is expected to drop following each artist’s respective solo projects.

“Wayne and I recently talked about [the Weezy/Drake collabo album],” Williams said. “That’s definitely going to get done.
With the debut of Hov and Ye’s wildly successful Watch the Throne, Williams promises that Weezy and Drizzy will bring something new to the table.
“It’s older versus younger,” he explained. “I listened to a few songs [off Watch the Throne] and it feels like an older feel to me. I think with Drake and Wayne, they young. They young cats. You got 23 and 28. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game. Then you got Wayne and Drake and them, who are still youthful to the game. So, it’s two different types of music all the way across the board.”

He is quick to clarify, however, that younger isn’t always better.
“What they’re doing is great,” he added in regards to the Throne. “I think it’s great for the game, great for the business, great for retail as a whole. I just think when Wayne and Drake get together is going to be something real special.”
For now, fans can look forward to Waynes upcoming Tha Carter IV and Drake’s Take Care, set for an Aug. 29 and Oct. 24 release respectively. Wayne released his latest track, "She Will," on Friday. Hear the song, which features Drake, below. Lyrics NSFW.
