Lindsay Lohan Accused of Assaulting Rehab Staff Member
Authorities say that Lindsay Lohan is under investigation for misdemeanor battery at the Betty Ford Center in Palm Desert, according to the Associated Press.
Riverside County sheriff’s Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela said officers responded to the rehab center the actress is currently receiving treatment in last Sunday (Dec. 12) after 1 a.m.
Valenzuela said that the female employee said she had a fight with the actress and that she wanted to press charges. Lohan was not arrested and the case remains ongoing.
The actress’ lawyer released a statement, saying that Lohan called the police, but did not provide further details.
Once the police complete their investigation, Valenzuela said the Riverside County prosecutors will then decide whether to go forward with a case.
Lohan has been receiving treatment at the rehab center since September, and must remain there until Jan. 3, a requirement a judge overseeing her probation for an old drunk driving case ordered.
Lohan’s next hearing is set for Feb. 25. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox has said that it would be possible for Lohan to be placed on informal probation should she remain trouble-free before the hearing.
