Lionsgate Adds Exec to Grow Worldwide TV Sales

The former Dick Clark Productions and Shine International exec will oversee licensing of alternative programming to broadcast, cable and digital platforms.

As Lionsgate continues growing and diversifying its TV division, the studio on Thursday named Ted Bookstaver to the newly created post of senior vp alternative programming sales.

He joins Lionsgate from Dick Clark Productions, where Bookstaver was vp international distribution, and Shine International, where he served as senior vp and head of Americas. Bookstaver will oversee licensing of Lionsgate's alternative programming for the broadcast, cable and digital platforms worldwide.

"Ted is an experienced sales and distribution executive and an adept strategist with great relationships throughout the international marketplace," Lionsgate executive vp alternative programming Jennifer O'Connell said in a statement. "He is ideally qualified to extend the rapid growth of our alternative programming roster into fresh opportunities worldwide."

Hiring Bookstaver follows the studio already driving towards expanding SVOD players worldwide by promoting Agapy Kapouranis to the newly created position of executive vp global subscription video on demand, with an eye to licensing more content to streaming services worldwide.

Lionsgate also recently acquired a majority stake in Craig Piligian's Pilgrim Media Group to grow its presence in the nonfiction TV business. The studio's slate of nonfiction programming includes Monica the Medium on Freeform, Hellevator on GSN and Douglas Family Gold, which premieres next week on Oxygen.

Bookstaver earlier completed executive stints at Eyeworks International Distribution and CBS/King World Productions.
