Former Legendary Digital and Nerdist exec Seth Laderman will lead Comic-Con International, the SVOD service set to launch in 2016.

Former Legendary Digital and Nerdist web channel programmer Seth Laderman has been tapped by Lionsgate and San Diego's Comic-Con to lead Comic-Con International, the planned subscription video-on-demand service set to launch in early 2016.

Laderman becomes executive vp and general manager of the streamer aimed at fanboys. The online service will feature exclusive archived footage from the past 45 years of Comic-Con, films and TV series from Lionsgate and original short-form content.

Laderman, a veteran digital and TV production executive, was previously head of production for Legendary Digital and Nerdist Industries, a multi-platform pop culture brand. Digital projects at Nerdist that shifted to TV included All Star Celebrity Bowling on AMC, Syfy's Nerdist News, Justin Willman’s Magic Meltdown on Comedy Central and the upcoming reboot of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, in partnership with YouTube network Fullscreen.

"Seth is ideally qualified to create a lineup that delights fans and newcomers alike with a combination of beloved treasures, thrilling discoveries and unique original content designed exclusively to satisfy our audiences," Lionsgate president of worldwide TV digital distribution Jim Packer said Wednesday.

Laderman also served as senior vp for Legendary Digital Networks after Legendary Pictures acquired Nerdist in 2012. Lionsgate has also launched the Lionsgate Entertainment World online platform with China's Alibaba Group and plans an upcoming launch of Tribeca Shortlist, an SVOD service for cinephiles in partnership with Tribeca Enterprises.
