Lionsgate's Jason Constantine has extended his contract as president of acquisitions and co-productions for the company's motion picture group.

The 13-year veteran will continue to oversee the tracking and acquisition of all theatrical films for Lionsgate, play an instrumental role in the creative oversight of pre-buy projects in development, production and postproduction and manage the day-to-day operations of the company's acquisitions team.

He continues to report to Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger.

Constantine has played a key role in the acquisition of many Lionsgate hits, including the Expendables franchise, which has earned nearly $575 million worldwide, as well as the horror film Cabin in the Woods (more than $40 million domestically).

He also oversaw the acquisition of critically and commercially lauded hits such as Arbitrage, which Lionsgate acquired out of Sundance 2012 and released through Roadside Attractions, as well as recently acquiring Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing, Girl Most Likely (starring Kristen Wiig, Annette Bening, Matt Dillon and Darren Criss) and the Gwyneth Paltrow-Mark Ruffalo film Thanks for Sharing.

Other successful Lionsgate titles that Constantine was involved with include Precious and the Saw franchise.

Before his work as an acquisitions executive, Constantine worked in physical film production on studio and independent features. He joined Lionsgate in 2000 from Trimark Pictures, where he served as director of acquisitions.

Constantine also wrote and directed two short films, a romantic comedy titled For Whom the Wedding Bell Tolls and the drama Ashes, which won the Producers Guild of America Award for best student short.
