Lionsgate's Morgerman lands at YFG

NEW YORK -- Yari Film Group has appointed Lionsgate vet Jennifer Morgerman senior vp publicity in a move to expand the new indie distributor's marketing department.

The exec already has hired new vp national publicity Stacey Leinson, who held PR positions at Universal Home Entertainment, DreamWorks and MGM/UA. She also brought former FX staffer Lyndi Heus aboard as director of special projects.

Morgerman will report to CEO Bob Yari in the company's Los Angeles office. She will handle North American publicity duties for all YFG acquisitions and productions along with overseeing all corporate communications, awards campaigns and branding initiatives.

She arrives after spending seven years as head of publicity at Lionsgate, coordinating awards-season campaigns for such films as "Monster's Ball," "The Cooler" and "Secretary." Before that, Morgerman was head of publicity at AFI Fest and a staffer at the publicity firm Dennis Davidson and Associates.

"One of the most important steps in reimagining my operations is building a top-flight publicity team," said Yari, who introduced his distribution label Yari Film Group Releasing last year. "Jennifer comes to us with a stellar reputation, and we're excited about the moves she wants to make." Upcoming projects she will handle include campaigns for "Resurrecting the Champ" and the February release "The Accidental Husband."
