Literary Agent Alexandra Machinist Joins ICM Partners
The New York-based agent, who represents best-selling authors including Kevin Kwan and Koethi Zan, is coming from Janklow & Nesbit.
Literary agent Alexandra H. Machinist has joined ICM Partners, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. She will be based in New York in the agency’s publications department, led by Sloan Harris and Esther Newberg.
“Alexandra’s impeccable taste and commitment to building her clients’ careers has enabled her to represent an incredibly diverse and successful list,” Harris said in a statement. Added Newberg, “She is a highly respected agent in the publishing community, and her experience in representing all types of genres will make her a valuable asset to our publications team.”
Machinist represents several international and New York Times best-selling authors, including Darynda Jones, Kevin Kwan, Jillian Lauren, Kat Martin, Thich Nhat Hanh, Aprilynne Pike, Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig and Koethi Zan. She sold Sabaa Tahir’s upcoming first novel, An Ember in the Ashes, to Razorbill in a major deal (Paramount already has acquired the film rights in a separate seven-figure pact) and also represents the anticipated debuts from M.A. Larson, Lucy Sykes, Chrysler Szarlan and J.A. White.
Machinist comes to ICM from Janklow & Nesbit Associates, which she joined after a stint at the Linda Chester Literary Agency. Prior to that, she practiced law at Akin Gump.
“I’m excited to join the world-renowned publications team that Esther and Sloan have created with their prolific roster of clients,” Machinist said in a statement. “I look forward to helping existing clients grow their careers while finding the next great debut writer as an agent at ICM Partners.”
