LL Cool J Sends Burglar to Hospital With Broken Jaw
The rapper and "NCIS: Los Angeles" star apprehended an intruder in his L.A. home and restrained the man until police arrived.
LL Cool J doesn’t just enforce the law on TV.
The rapper and NCIS: Los Angeles star apprehended a would-be burglar in his L.A. home early Wednesday morning, in an altercation police sources described a "knock-down, drag-out" fight. The intruder was sent to the hospital with a broken nose and jaw, the LA Times reported.
The incident began when the rapper’s alarm system went off around 2 a.m., and he apparently decided to confront the burglar himself. The police soon received a 911 call from a girl who said her father was restraining an intruder. When the police arrived, they saw an unharmed LL Cool J holding the suspect.
Though nothing was stolen, the intruder was taken into police custody on suspicion of burglary, and was treated at a hospital for his injuries. The man, who has not been identified by police, has been described as a transient. Sources told TMZ he may be suffering from mental health issues.
The rapper’s spokesperson issued a statement addressing the incident.
"As a father, husband and citizen, he is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities on this private matter,” the statement read.
In addition to his music and acting careers, LL Cool J, whose real name is James Todd Smith, has enjoyed his fair share of spreads in fitness magazines and authored his own workout book in 2006, titled LL Cool J's Platinum Workout.
