Henry Cavill also is starring in the true life-based film, which will presented at AFM in November.
Logan Marshall-Green will join Nicholas Hoult in Sand Castle, a war drama also starring Henry Cavill.
Marshall-Green is replacing Luke Evans, who was previously attached to the project.
Fernando Coimbra (Netflix's Narcos) will direct based on a script by Chris Roessner. The film follows Roessner's two years and more than 200 missions as a machine gunner in Iraq's Sunni Triangle. The story centers on Matt Ocre (Hoult) and the leader of his platoon, Sergeant Baker, as they attempt to protect Baqubah, a dangerous farming village.
The film, produced by Mark Gordon of The Mark Gordon Company, Justin Nappi via his company Treehouse Pictures and Ben Pugh, is slated to begin principle photography in November.
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones is executive producing. Voltage Pictures is handling international sales for the film and will present the movie to buyers next month at the American Film Market.
Treehouse Pictures is fully financing the film which Gordon has shepherded from its inception.
Marshall-Green's credits include Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and James Franco’s As I Lay Dying along with TV shows 24, The O.C. and Dark Blue. He'll also star in the upcoming Cinemax series Quarry, which will air in 2016. He's repped by CAA, 3 Arts Entertainment and Stone, Meyer.
