Lonelygirl15 to wrap up Aug. 3
EmptyLonelygirl15, the popular teen online soap that became a YouTube phenomenon last year, will present its season finale on Aug. 3 in unique fashion, as 12 mini-episodes will be posted online consecutively that day -- one per hour over 12 hours, according to the show's producers.
The 12 roughly three- to five-minute episodes will feature the show's characters attempting to solve a mystery while seeking a missing friend. Following the season one wrapup, fans of the pseudo Web diary won't have to wait long for more drama, as season 2 will kick off on Aug. 6.
Episodes of Lonelygirl15, which is distributed on LG15.com in addition to YouTube, have been viewed over 50 million times since the show launched last summer. Since then, the online video hit has landed branded entertainment partnerships with mainstream advertisers such as Neutrogena and Hershey's while yielding a spinoff, KateModern, which is scheduled to debut on the social network Bebo on Monday. Already, KateModern has landed brand integration deals with Gilette, Pantene, Microsoft's Windows Live, Disney and Orange.
