Louis Gossett Jr. to Star in Faith-Based Drama 'The Reason'
The Oscar-winning actor is known for his roles in 'An Officer and a Gentleman' and 'Roots.'
Academy Award-winning actor Louis Gossett Jr. is set to star in faith-based drama The Reason.
The film, based on the William Sirls book, follows a small-town pastor, his wife and their sick child as a mysterious man is sent to give them hope. Sirls adapted his book for the screen, writing the screenplay with Aviv Rubinstein and Richard Clark Jr.
Clark Jr., Paige Collins, Alan Powell, Derrick J. Simcox and Jennifer Willingham are producing, with Ken Sirls acting as executive producer. Randall Stevens will direct The Reason, with Beverly Todd, Tatyana Ali and Kelly Carlson also set to star.
Gossett, who is repped by Michael Mann and Eric Feig, is known for his Oscar-winning role as Sergeant Emil Foley in the Richard Gere starrer An Officer and a Gentleman. He also has won a Golden Globe for his role in The Josephine Baker Story and an Emmy for the TV miniseries Roots.
Gossett, who was the first African American male actor to win an Oscar for a supporting role and only the third to win overall, will be presenting at the 88th Oscars on Sunday, Feb 28.
