There's no doubt Lupita Nyong'o has been a busy girl -- a very well-dressed one, to say the least -- attending numerous awards shows, as well as Monday's film premiere of Non-Stop. As she preps for Sunday's Oscars, LoveGold (promotional arm of the World Gold Council) threw an intimate soiree to fete the nominated actress at the Chateau Marmont's Selma House on Wednesday night.
With the Academy Awards only four days away, the actress tells us what she'll be doing the morning of March 2. "I'm going to have a massage," Nyong'o tells Pret-a-Reporter, while surrounded by friends and family, including her mom, Dorothy Nyong'o, whom she brought as her date. "I don't know what will happen after that, but the massage worked for the Golden Globes so I'm hoping that will work again."
The actress, who stunned in a cobalt blue Stella McCartney dress and gold Elena Votsi jewels, never had any intention of becoming fashion's next "it" girl. However, she says, it's "cool. It's an honor for people to regard my style as something worth printing and talking about. It wasn't my intention to get that kind of title, but it's been bestowed upon me and I'm touched."
Nyong'o says she wasn't always into style, but notes, "I've always cared about what I look like. I've always believed in presentation. I believe in dressing for the occasion."
The Kenyan actress added: "I think style is all about inner confidence. I think that's really the crux of it at the end of the day."
As we anticipate Nyong'o's big red-carpet moment at Sunday's awards show, one thing we can definitely see on the style star? Confidence.
