MØ Rocked Elie Saab's Paris Fashion Week Show
Kendall Jenner closed out the show.
Danish singer Karen Marie Ørsted — better known as MØ — electrified Elie Saab’s slick fashion week show.
The 27-year-old from Copenhagen played a trio of her haunting electropop hits in a sheer black lace jumpsuit from the designer, topped with a braid crown. She’s worked with Diplo on her latest album and Major Lazer for the hit "Lean On," and even though her name means “virgin” in Danish, she’s known for her very NSFW lyrics.
Backed by just a keyboardist and a spectacular light show, the singer gave an energetic, aerobic performance as models including Kendall Jenner marched along to songs including “Kamikaze.”
It was a departure for the designer, whose recent collections took musical cues from Stevie Nicks and The Doors. While this collection wasn’t far from those '70s influences and there were plenty of gypsy floor-length skirts and boho jumpsuits, Saab added more youthful elements including floral-embroidered leather biker jackets over gowns and a lace hoodie paired with a crop top and track pants.
He showed an ethereal voyage to India-inspired collection during couture week in January; this season was a much darker and denser mood. The final gown, worn by Jenner, was a classic silhouette in tough leather cutouts.
Dianna Agron sat front-row and told Pret-a-Reporter the collection was "beautiful and really a discovery" and that she's eager to wear him on the red carpet.
The designer said the collection was meant to be a “melodic dance between feminine and fierce.” With MØ’s brand of girly tough rocking the house, he succeeded.
