Hayes MacArthur is set to write, executive produce and star in a family comedy for NBC.

The untitled project, from Universal Media Studios, is loosely based on characters from MacArthur's life. It is a multigenerational family comedy about a recently divorced father who moves in with his two sons in an attempt to put his life back together.

MacArthur is exec producing the project — which has received a script commitment from NBC — with his manager, Flutie Entertainment's Brady McKay.

MacArthur and Jason Winer co-created the buzzworthy 2005 comedy pilot "The Adventures of Big Handsome Guy and His Little Friend." The two also starred in the Fox project, produced by 20th Century Fox TV.

MacArthur is onscreen opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in Disney's hit feature "The Game Plan" and next will be seen opposite Will Ferrell in "Semi-Pro" and in a guest appearance on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

MacArthur is repped by WMA.
