Macgowan Films Backs Screenwriter Judy Morris' 'Needlepoint' (Berlin)
Sydney-based production banner backing $6 million-budgeted U.K./Australian co-production with Film and Music Entertainment.
BERLIN -- Screenwriter Judy Morris, whose credits include Babe: Pig in the City and Happy Feet, has attracted backing from Marian Macgowan's Sydney-based production banner Macgowan Films and Mike Downey and Sam Taylor's U.K. production and finance house Film and Music Entertainment (F&ME) for her script Needlepoint.
Morris is writing the screenplay with British director Gary Love, whose debut Sugarhouse starring Andy Serkis, achieved cult status a couple of years ago.
Needlepoint is billed as a dark thriller set in an Australian coastal town and details the life of a local doctor whose life is turned around when an anthropologist and his wife, Susan, move to town.
"Needlepoint is a classic and intensely dark thriller from one of our best writers, " said Macgowan, who is Berlin with the $6 million-budgeted U.K./Australian co-production.
