Mad Men's Teyonah Parris has joined the cast of Spike Lee’s Chiraq.

Parris, who was a star of the 2014 Sundance breakout Dear White People, joins a cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, John Cusack, Jeremy Piven and Wesley Snipes.

Set against the backdrop of Chicago’s gun violence, the film is a modern spin on the Greek comedy Lysistrata. Parris will play the role of Lysistrata, a strong-willed sexy woman.

Lee wrote the screenplay and is producing through his 40 Acres and a Mule shingle. Amazon Studios will distribute domestically, while IM Global is selling international territories.

Parris is best known for her role as Don Draper’s (Jon Hamm) secretary Dawn Chambers on AMC’s Mad Men and as Colandrea "Coco" Conners in Dear White People. She currently stars as the smart and sophisticated Missy Vaughn in the LeBron James-produced Starz series Survivors Remorse and will be seen in a pair of upcoming films: Five Nights in Main and Where the Children Play.

Parris is repped by APA, Vanguard Management Group and Fox Rothschild.
