'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted' Showcases More Animal Shenanigans (Video)

In the eagerly-anticipated sequel, Alex, Marty and co. infiltrate a group of carnival creatures in order to get back home to America.

Fans of Alex (Ben Stiller), Marty (Chris Rock), Melman (David Schwimmer), Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Julien (Sacha Baron Cohen)got a look at some new footage of their favorite furry friends Wednesday when Paramount Pictures premiered a new trailer for Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.

The clip covered much of the same territory as previous trailers, even as it showcased some heretofore unseen gags from peripheral characters, and offered a few new details about the plot. Following the events of 2008’s Escape to Africa, the motley crew of critters is trying to make the trek back home to America, where presumably they plan to return to their cages and lead quiet lives at the zoo they once escaped from. Unfortunately they get sidetracked and end up in Europe, where they meet a group of circus animals that’s on its way to the States. Attempting to fit in by pretending they too have similar talents – Marty paints himself polka-dotted and dons a rainbow wig – the group quickly get in on the (circus) act, even as Captaine Chantel DuBois (newcomer to the series Frances McDormand) is in hot pursuit.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted opens nationwide June 8, 2012, appropriately after its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, yeah, you guessed it, in Europe. (That's where the movie takes place too!)
