Magnet acquires 'I Saw the Devil'
Kim Jee-woon thriller screened at Toronto on TuesdayTORONTO -- Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures has taken North American rights to Kim Jee-woon's thriller "I Saw the Devil," which first screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday night.
Lee Byung-hyun, who also appeared in the director's "The Good, the Bad and the Weird," stars as a special agent who vows revenge after his wife becomes the victim of a serial killer.
The movie will be released theatrically in the first quarter of the year.
" 'I Saw the Devil' is one of the most riveting and unrelenting films I've ever seen. It is an undisputable masterpiece," Magnet svp Tom Quinn said.
The deal was negotiated by Quinn with Finecut's Youngjoo Suh.
