Makatasch, Madsen Join Berlin Shooting Stars Jury
Former 'Star' Joins Kolar, Todd and Elley to Select Upcoming Talent
COLOGNE, Germany – German actress Heike Makatasch, Danish director Ole Christian Madsen (Flame & Citron) and French producer Cedomir Kolar (Cirkus Columbia) will help pick the 10 young actors to be honored as Europe’s 2011 Shooting Stars at the Berlin International Film Festival next year.
Also on the Shooting Stars jury are U.S. casting agent Lina Todd and British film critic Derek Elley.
Makatasch, herself a Shooting Star in 2001, is one of Germany’s best-known talents. She has headlined local features including Hilde and Aimee and Jaguar and had supporting roles in many international films, among them Love, Actually and Resident Evil.
Hers is not the only Shooting Stars success story. Since its inception in 1998, the Shooting Stars has hit gold with soon-to-be global talents such as Carey Mulligan, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz. The event’s talent spotters have also had an eye for European actors set for a major local career, including Norwegian star Aksel Hennie (Max Manus), Germany’s Johanna Wokalek (The Baader Meinhof Complex) and France’s Ludivine Sagnier (Public Enemy No. 1).
