Man Shot and Killed Near Las Palmas Hollywood Hotel
An unidentified 18-year-old man was found dead by officers with a single gunshot wound to the chest.
An 18-year-old man was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Friday near Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas, authorities said.
At 2:00 am, officers patrolling the area "heard three pops" and found a man with a single gunshot wound to his chest, said Drake Madison, a public information officer for the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man's identity is being withheld as next of kin are notified, Madison stated. No motive or circumstances of the death were available at present time.
The incident occurred near the Las Palmas Hotel, located at 1738 N. Las Palmas Ave. When contacted by THR, the hotel's reception desk referred all questions about the incident to the police department.
The hotel has a history of being used as a location in film and television. The 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman, which featured Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, filmed scenes at the hotel as did a Seinfeld episode in 1992, according to the Las Palmas website.
