Jasmine Yarbrough and Tamie Ingham — the duo behind the smoking slippers that Kendall Jenner and Julianne Hough can't get enough of — talk shoes and well-deserved splurges.

Jasmine Yarbrough, a model, and Tamie Ingham, a stylist, are besties from down under and the masterminds behind the brand Mara & Mine. Their Jem Skull smoking slipper ($350) — a super luxe slip-on — has captured young Hollywood’s imagination as the statement casual go-to.

Now the label has expanded into espadrilles, summer sandals and boots with details like metallic hardware and chains this coming fall. A kids collab with North West fave, Akid, and even a few men’s styles round out the covetable collection. The shoes are made here in Los Angeles, but with high-end materials and hardware from Italy and Spain.

Here, we chatted with the creative duo about their favorite footwear of all time and their first-ever shoe splurges.

What is your favorite shoe of all time and why?

Ingham: My favorite shoe of all time is my Saint Laurent black studded pump. I wear them with everything. They’re so versatile. I love them with a casual skinny jean and tee or to complete an evening look for a cocktail party or even a wedding.

Yarbrough: Mine are my Susanna Studded Chloe boots in beige. They are so stylish but also very comfortable. I first wore them to my birthday dinner at Made in LA. I always wear them to the airport — they are perfect traveling shoes.

What type of shoes do you like to see on the opposite sex?

Ingham: I love a Nike sneaker on the opposite sex, specifically a Fly Knit or Air Max 90. I like them styled in a smart casual way with a crisp shirt, jeans and Nike’s. A suit and sneakers is super sexy too. I think I first saw this look when Jas and I were in Paris for Fashion Week last year.

Yarbrough: I love to see men wearing black or navy velvet smoking slippers when they are in a suit. It adds a bit of Euro spunk to their outfit.

Of all the celebrities who have worn your shoes, whose styling do you admire most?

Ingham: Kendall Jenner looked chic in a white romper and a pair of our slippers. I also admire the way Julianne Hough styled our Jem Skull slippers. It was a classic rock 'n' roll look with black skinny jeans, a leather jacket, black hat and black wayfarers.

Yarbrough: Margot Robbie looked on trend in our Jem Skull Slippers, pairing them with denim cut off shorts, black belt and a white t-shirt. A perfect casual look with a unique touch.

What celeb would you like to see your shoes on?

Yarbrough: Julia Restoin Roitfield or Erin Wasson.

Ingham: Giovanna Battaglia.

What were your first pair of shoes you splurged on?

Ingham: The first pair I ever splurged on was a pair of Chanel ballet flats. They were black nappa leather with a black patent toe. I bought them seven years ago for $900. My favorite way to style them is with black skinny jeans and a white T-shirt; very casual and classic.

Yarbrough: The first pair I splurged on are my Valentino Heels. I bought them three years ago and they cost me $1,500.

What is your favorite shoe in your own collection and why?

Ingham: My favorite shoe in the entire collection is the Jem Skull Slipper in black calf hair and black embroidery. I love them because they are our signature, but a little more subtle than the others. They finish off anything in my wardrobe so well.

What shoes do you want to be buried in?

Yarbrough and Ingham: Mara & Mine slippers — so we can be stylish and comfortable for eternity!
