Marathon off to quick start with 'Gormiti'

Most-watched French series at MIPCOM Jr.

CANNES -- French production and distribution powerhouse Marathon has been sprinting through the MIPCOM market with sales of popular animated series "Gormiti," Marathon said Tuesday.

The 22-minute format was the most-watched French series at MIPCOM Jr. and already has presold to Mediaset in Italy and M6 and Canal J in France after just one day on the market.

Marathon is in negotiations with the U.S. and U.K., among other territories on the series.

Marathon also plans to ink distribution deals in the coming days for "Amazing Spies," a spinoff of teenage hit "Totally Spies."

The 52-episode, 22-minute cartoon will air on TF1 in France and Teletoon in Canada. "It's tres comic book," Marathon's head of animation David Michel said of the series.
