Marcia Gay Harden Starrer 'If I Were You' U.S. Rights Nabbed by Kino Lorber

Distributor Kino Lorber has acquired U.S. rights to writer-director Joan Carr-Wiggin’s comedy If I Were You.

The film, which stars Marcia Gay Harden, Leonor Watling and Aidan Quinn, will be released theatrically March 15.

The story centers on Madelyn Reid (Harden), who accidentally learns of her husband’s infidelity when she saves his sexy young mistress (Watling) from a bungled suicide attempt. When her unsuspecting young rival suggests the two new friends take one another’s advice – on everything – Madelyn sees an opportunity to seize the upper hand. But the plan backfires when the mistress starts giving Madelyn instructions on dealing with an amorous coworker and a handsome stranger (Quinn).

“If I Were You is a charming, smart and very funny look at the unexpected places life can take us," Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber said. "Marcia Gay Harden’s virtuosity and emotional mastery as an actress have never been put to better use as she and Leonor Watling escalate hilarious complications in this refreshing female-driven comedy."

A pre-theatrical VOD release is planned for If I Were You through Gravitas Ventures in association with Warners Bros. Digital Distribution. The film will be available beginning Feb. 11 in 100 million-plus homes through a range of cable video-on-demand options as well as iTunes, Amazon Video On Demand and VUDU. 

Lorber negotiated the acquisition deal with Gordian.

Kino Lorber's recent releases include 5 Broken Cameras, which is Oscar nominated for best documentary feature.
