Mark Burnett Tapped to Executive Produce Spike TV's Video Game Awards
The ceremony will air live on Saturday, Dec. 10.
Mark Burnett will add another award show to his lengthy list of credits.
On the heels of his Emmys gig in September, the Survivor producer has signed on to executive produce Spike TV's Video Game Awards, which will air live on Spike, MTV2 and Spike.com Saturday, Dec. 10.
"Mark's bold producing style is a perfect fit for gamers, and his tremendous vision and unparalleled energy will take the show to a new level," said Casey Patterson, executive vice president of event production for Viacom Media Networks Entertainment Group.
Added Burnett, who has also EPed the MTV Movie Awards and the People's Choice Awards, "I have teenage boys so video games are already part of my life. They kick my butt in Black Opps on a regular basis, but now are letting me win in hopes of seeing some of the world premieres before the show."
Among the night's hopefuls are Game of the Year nominees Batman: Arkham City, Portal 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. In the Most Anticipated Game category, the nominees include BioShock Infinite, Diablo III, Halo 4, Mass Effect 3 and The Last Guardian.
The 9th annual kudofest will feature guest appearances from Hideo Kojima, who will premiere Metal Gear Solid: Rising and BioWare, the creators of Mass Effect 3 who will use the platform to announce a new project and studio.
