Mark Zuckerberg Wedding: Industry Reacts to Facebook CEO’s Marriage
"Daily Show" writer Tim Carvel tweeted: "As a gift, I got you the names of all my friends, a list of my favorite movies, and some photos of me!"
Closing out a week in which Facebook’s IPO dominated the news, Mark Zuckerberg and longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan have ensured the company’s CEO will remain in the spotlight a while longer.
The couple married Saturday in a small ceremony held in Zuckerberg’s backyard, reports the Associated Press. The marriage became known after the couple updated their Facebook relationship statuses to married and Zuckerberg changed his profile picture to a wedding photograph (yes, he wore a suit and tie).

Members of the media were quick to send the couple their well wishes. Film critic Richard Roeper tweeted “Mark Zuckerberg got married. Told you that Facebook stock would split!” Tim Carvel, head writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart tweeted: “Congratulations, Mark Zuckerberg! As a gift, I got you the names of all my friends, a list of my favorite movies, and some photos of me!”
Members of the media who cover Silicon Valley had some fun with Zuckerberg’s no-tie public image. New York Times technology blogger Nick Bilton tweeted “he didn't wear a hoodie!” Huffington Post editor Craig Kanalley tweeted: “I love how Mark Zuckerberg + Priscilla skipped the whole ‘Engaged’ status on Facebook, going right to ‘Married.’”
Chan, 27, graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco on Monday, Zuckerberg’s 28th birthday. Facebook stock ended trading Friday at $38 per share, and its IPO reportedly made thousands of the company’s employees millionaires.
