Marketing vet Tankosic joins Magna Global

In his first executive appointment since taking over as president of Magna Global Entertainment last August, Bill Hilary has named cable TV marketing veteran Cathy Tankosic executive vp.

In her new role, Tankosic, who has worked in senior vp positions for Comedy Central and MTV Networks, will look for new ways to create branded entertainment content across multiple media platforms. She will build new relationships, new businesses and expand Magna Entertainment's existing portfolio, the company said.

"Magna Global Entertainment is continuing to evolve and grow," said Hilary. "Cathy has a unique skill set, in that she has extensive marketing, advertising, creative management and digital experience. I am thrilled that she has joined our team."

From 1991 to 2004, Tankosic worked at Comedy Central, rising to the position of senior vp, head of marketing and creative. In that role, she re-branded the channel, managed the brand across all lines of business and launched and supported all channel series and franchises including "Chappelle's Show," "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "South Park."

In 2005, Tankosic joined MTV Networks, where she served as senior vp, head of marketing and creative for the URGE digital music store. Most recently, she has served as a marketing consultant for CBS.

Tankosic started her career at USA Network in strategic planning before moving on to Financial News Network and then joining Comedy Central.
