Maroon 5 to Perform at Grammy Nominations Concert
The Adam Levine-fronted band will head to Nashville, Tenn., for the televised special.
Adam Levine is heading to Nashville.
No, the Maroon 5 frontman isn’t recording a duet with his country pal and Voice co-coach Blake Shelton (at least, not yet), but he’ll be performing at the Grammy Nominations Live!! concert.
His three-time Grammy award-winning band is the first act announced for the annual event, which will also see the return of host LL Cool J. Earlier this summer, the Recording Academy announced that it would be moving the televised concert special from Los Angeles, where it has been held for the past four years, to the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
The move appeared to indicate a tip of the hat to the country music genre, but if the first performer is any indication, the concert will likely stay true to its pop roots.
The televised special, which serves as a platform to announce nominations in several major categories while featuring performances from past Grammy winners and nominees, will air live on CBS Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Last year, the Grammy Nominations concert featured appearances and performances from Lady Gaga, Jason Aldean, Rihanna, Usher, The Band Perry, Nicki Minaj, Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco, Sugarland and Katy Perry. The Nov. 30 broadcast scored 9.8 million viewers last year, which was an increase of 12 percent from 2010.
Following the one-hour live telecast this year, attendees will be privy to a one-hour exclusive concert by one of the evening's performers. Pre-sale tickets for The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! went on sale Tuesday to select VIPs. Tickets to the general public will go on sale Friday, Sept. 21, and are available online at www.ticketmaster.com or via Ticketmaster charge-by-phone lines at 800.745.3000.
This year, the Grammys will be held once again at L.A.’s Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 10. They will be broadcast by CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
