MarVista inks deals for films and 'Beyond'
EmptyU.S. indie MarVista has picked up a slew of international broadcast deals for its movie slate and its flagship surfing series "Beyond the Break," the company revealed Monday, two weeks ahead of MIPTV in Cannes.
Portuguese distributor Lusomundo has signed up for the full 17 hours of "Break," a co-production with MTV Networks' the N and Brookwell McNamara Entertainment. The series will be seen in Portugal on MOV, a new digital platform operated by ZON Multimedia, the media arm of Portugal Telecom.
"Beyond" is now in 85 territories, with principal broadcasters including France's M6 RAI in Italy, La Sexta in Spain, Star World across Asia and Globo Brazil's Multi Show.
In Central and Eastern Europe, MarVista has licensed a nine-movie package to public broadcaster TVP in Poland.
Included in the package are the "Shiloh" trilogy of movies, based on the best-selling novels by John Newbery.
Two pan-Asian agreements also were announced, the first with Real Networks for six new movie titles and a second with HBO Asia for several of the Burbank Animation Studios classic animated features.
In India, a movie package has been licensed to Sahara One's newly launched channel Firangi, which will air scripted content from around the world dubbed into Hindi.
