Gus Van Sant Directs New Matthew McConaughey TV Spots for Lincoln
The latest ads in McConaughey's endorsement deal with Lincoln Motors will air during college football starting on Saturday.
In what Lincoln Motors hopes will be a reprise of last-year's zeitgeist-setting ads starring Matthew McConaughey, a new series of one-minute commercials featuring the Oscar-winning actor bows this weekend — this time directed by Gus Van Sant.
The new 30-second ads, promoting Lincoln's 2016 revamped MKX crossover SUV, were shot in Malibu by Van Sant.
The previous ads in the campaign, directed by Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, were famously parodied by Conan O'Brien, Ellen DeGeneres and Jim Carrey on SNL and helped boost sales of Lincoln's MKC Crossover by 25 percent.
