Matthew Modine Joins Mandy Moore in '47 Meters Down' (Exclusive)
Moore and Claire Holt are starring in the underwater thriller.
Matthew Modine has joined the cast of 47 Meters Down, which will star Mandy Moore and Claire Holt.
The film centers on sisters Kate and Lisa (Holt and Moore) who decide to go diving to view Great White sharks while on vacation in Mexico. But when the cage breaks free from the boat and plummets to the ocean floor, Kate and Lisa find themselves trapped deep underwater with less than an hour of oxygen left in their tanks. They must somehow work out how to get back to the safety of the boat above through 47 meters of shark-infested waters.
Modine will play Taylor in the film, which is directed by Johannes Roberts, and is currently shooting at Pinewood’s Dominican Republic water tank.
James Harris and Mark Lane of The Tea Shop & Film Company are producing 47 Meters Down. eOne has UK rights, The Weinstein Company has acquired North American rights for release with Dimension Films. International sales are being handled by Altitude Film Sales.
Modine is known for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Birdy, Vision Quest and TV show Weeds. His recent films include Jobs, The Dark Knight Rises and Girl in Progress. He currently stars in TNT’s drama Proof. He's repped by APA and Untitled Entertainment.
