Maude Apatow and Rebel Wilson Are Hip Hop's Next Big Thing (Video)
The actress and daughter of filmmaker Judd Apatow spent some time with the "Pitch Perfect" star, and it netted them a record deal.
Meet Lil' Maude.
Maude Apatow is a high school freshman, an actress, a prolific twitterer, interviewer and, now, a rapper, as the hype-girl half of Rebel Wilson's fledgling hip hop outfit, 2 Scoops of Vanilla. The 14-year old's big break came when she sat down to interview Wilson, who stars as Fat Amy in the new a capella comedy Pitch Perfect, for Zooey Deschanel's website HelloGiggles.com. Whether it's a stroke of luck or not -- that remains to be seen.
Wilson has been playing around with a rapper alter ego for a while now, a sort of sequel to Sacha Baron Cohen's Ali G more so than Joaquin Phoenix's I'm Still Here experiment, and she stayed in character for the interview with the young daughter of Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann. The young Apatow played along -- she is, after all, starring in the upcoming film This is 40, and it resulted in some delightfully uncomfortable exchanges. Unless she actually was a bit uncomfortable with Wilson's persona, which would perhaps make it even funnier.
