McGarvey becomes Edinburgh fest patron
Cinematographer now shooting 'Nowhere Boy'LONDON -- Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey is the latest movie industry notable to become a patron of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, organizers said Monday, joining a group that includes Sean Connery, Tilda Swinton and Robert Carlyle.
The cinematographer has worked with a slew of big-name directors including Oliver Stone, Stephen Daldry and Stephen Frears. He most recently wrapped "The Soloist," starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. McGarvey is shooting artist-filmmaker Sam Taylor-Wood's sophomore outing, "Nowhere Boy." A biopic that covers John Lennon's early years.
This year's festival runs June 17-28.
