Rose McGowan, recently onscreen in "Grindhouse," is set to co-host Turner Classic Movies' weekly movie showcase "The Essentials" alongside Robert Osborne in 2008. Starting March 8, the duo will introduce "must see" movies each week "with an eye toward helping viewers better understand why these films are important and the impact they had on audiences and the culture at large," TCM said. McGowan recently did a stint opposite Osborne during TCM's "Guest Programmer" month in November. "During our many shoots with 'Guest Programmers' this year, we encountered a lot of celebrities who impressed us with their knowledge and love of classic film," TCM vp original programming Tom Brown said. "But Rose really stood out, because she was so passionate and insightful." Her first film as co-host will be Billy Wilder's "The Apartment." "The Essentials" is entering its eighth year; Carrie Fisher was Osborne's co-host last year.
