Bollywood Actress Kidnapped and Beheaded
Amit Jaiswal and Preeti Surin "wanted to extort money" from the killed woman's family, a detective said.
Bollywood actress Meenakshi Thapar, who appeared in the Indian horror film 404, was kidnapped by two actors who later killed her on the set of her latest movie.
Amit Jaiswal and Preeti Surin -- who were romantically involved -- reportedly kidnapped Thapar after hearing her talk about her family's wealth and status in Dehra Dun, the Daily Telegraph reports.
According to the report, the two actors invited Thapar to join them on a trip to Gorakhpur, a town near the India-Nepal border. There, they held her hostage and demanded 1,500,000 rupees (about $28,766) from her parents. Police said that Jaiswal and Surin threatened Thapar's mother that if their financial demands were not met that they would force her daughter to participate in porn films.
Thapar's mother put in 60,000 rupees (about $1,151) for the pair to withdraw from her daughter's bank account, but Thapar was killed anyway.
The actress was strangled at a hotel, beheaded and her body dumped in two diferent locations while Jaiswal and Surin traveled to Mumbai. Thapar's torso was found in a water tank and her head thrown in a bag out of a bus window.
Jaiswai and Surin confessed to the murder after police caught the two with the SIM card to Thapar's phone.
“We are still investigating the case and both the accused along with a police team are visiting the crime spot. We have yet to recover the body," a detective told the Telegraph.
The detective added: “They wanted to extort money from her family. They have confessed to the crime."
