Megan Lawrence Named VP Programming, Development For Food Network, Cooking Channel (Exclusive)
Megan Lawrence has a tasty new job as vp programming and development for Food Network and Cooking Channel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Bob Tuschman, gm and senor vp of Food Network, is making the announcement Monday.
“Food and television are my two favorite things in the world,” says Lawrence, who most recently developed shows for WE tv. “So I’m living the dream that I get to go to work at Food Network and Cooking Channel.”

Based in Los Angeles, she will report to Didi O’Hearn, senor vp of Food Network, which is based in New York City.
“Having her based in L.A.,” says Tuschman, “will not only deepen our development bench but further strengthen our ties to the local production community. ”
Lawrence says while the trends in non-fiction TV are toward more competition shows, some things remain constant:
“It always comes back to big characters who are authentic and who are doing something they are incredibly passionate about. I think people want to watch those type of stories," said Lawrence.
At WE tv Lawrence was senor director of development with oversight of west coast development operations. Shows she worked on include Marriage Boot Camp, Braxton Family Values, Kendra On Top and the upcoming Match Made In Heaven.
She was previously an executive at The Weinstein Company where she worked on series including Project Runway and The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.
Lawrence, a 2003 graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, began her career in casting on shows including Extreme Makeover, The Biggest Loser and For Love Or Money.
