The co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is the latest high-profile guest set to attend the annual star-studded event on Dec. 9 in Los Angeles.

Melinda Gates will deliver the keynote address at The Hollywood Reporter's 2015 Women in Entertainment breakfast taking place on Dec. 9 at Milk Studios in Los Angeles.

The star-studded event coincides with the publication of THR's annual Women in Entertainment Power 100 list.

As co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, Melinda Gates works to improve equity in the United States and around the world, shaping and approving strategic efforts and working closely with the foundation's partners. Her work has led her to increasingly focus on empowering women and girls as a way to achieve progress for families and communities worldwide.

With her husband, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Melinda Gates has overseen the creation of more than $34.5 billion in global initiatives and programs. Earlier this year, she created Pivotal Ventures to pursue ideas and projects that might not fit within the foundation's structure.

In 2012, she spearheaded the London Summit on Family Planning, which adopted the goal of delivering contraceptives to 120 million women in developing countries by 2020.

“Melinda Gates is a stalwart champion for women and girls who has impacted the lives of millions with initiatives spanning US education, poverty alleviation and family planning,” said Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media's Entertainment Group. “Through her work, Melinda has inspired a generation of women to believe that true progress is possible and that it can start with them. We’re honored to have her deliver the keynote address at this year’s Women in Entertainment breakfast.”

It was previously announced that Barbra Streisand will receive the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the breakfast.

The event, this year in its 24th outing, also highlights The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program, where industry women, from Universal's Donna Langley to Fox's Dana Walden, have been paired with girls from Big Brothers Big Sisters of L.A. for a year. At the breakfast, two of the girls will be presented with full-ride scholarships to Loyola Marymount University. THR has helped raise more than $2 million in scholarships for graduates of the program.

Last year, Angelina Jolie, Shonda Rhimes, Sarah Silverman, Melissa Rivers, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Dana Walden, Tony Goldwyn, Donna Langley and Bonnie Hammer were among the entertainment industry luminaries in attendance at the star-studded breakfast.

The annual event is sponsored by Lifetime, Mercedes, American Airlines, South Coast Plaza and Loyola Marymount University.
