Melissa Rivers to Speak During Joan Rivers Tribute at THR's Women in Entertainment Breakfast
The legendary comedian will be honored with introductory remarks by Sarah Silverman and a video tribute featuring interviews with Melissa Rivers and Chris Rock, among others
Melissa Rivers will honor her late mother Joan Rivers during a special tribute at the Hollywood Reporter's 2014 Women in Entertainment Breakfast on Dec. 10 at Milk Studios in Los Angeles. Sarah Silverman will also take the stage to introduce the tribute at the VIP breakfast.
Melissa's appearance at the event will mark the first time she has spoken at length following Joan's untimely death on Sept. 4 in New York City following a routine procedure at Yorkville Endoscopy. At the time of Joan's death, Melissa said in a statement to THR, "We continue to be saddened by our tragic loss and grateful for the enormous outpouring of love and support from around the world."
The Women in Entertainment breakfast, sponsored by Lifetime, Audi, Gucci, Roberto Coin and Loyola Marymount, is held to coincide with the publication of THR’s annual Women in Entertainment: Power 100 list. This year's event promises to be an A-list industry affair. In addition to Melissa's appearance, Shonda Rhimes will receive THR's Sherry Lansing Award, which recognizes a woman who is a pioneer and leader in her industry, and scholarship awards will be doled out to 18 ambitious inner-city girls who participate in THR's Mentorship Program, which pairs girls with leading figures from the entertainment industry.
Melissa is an accomplished actress, host and producer. She currently serves as an executive producer of the hit show Fashion Police on E!, which will return on Jan. 12, 2015, with Kathy Griffin stepping in for Joan along with newly-installed Brad Goreski.
