Lime Orchard Productions Snags Rights to Meredith Goldstein's Debut Novel 'The Singles' (Exclusive)
Plume is publishing the book by the Boston Globe reporter/columnist next year.
Lime Orchard Productions, the production company run by partners Jami Gertz and Stacey Lubliner, has picked up the film and television rights to The Singles, the debut novel by Meredith Goldstein, an advice columnist and entertainment reporter for The Boston Globe.
Plume is publishing the novel next year and hopes to capitalize on Goldstein’s relationship insight and fanbase – her “Love Letters” blog reportedly gets more than a million page views a month.
Lime Orchard, in turn, could end up capitalizing on the success of such female comedies as Bridesmaids.
The book follows the intertwining stories of five single friends who attend a Maryland wedding weekend as the only guests without plus one. Over the course of the weekend, the friends face head on the disillusionment of adulthood and try to find what makes them happy in a tale that is described as funny and romantic.
Lime Orchard, which has its own discretionary find for development as well as access to production financing, have been on a book tear, optioning Ashley Rhodes-Courter memoir Three Little Words and attaching James Mangold to direct, and setting up, with Michael De Luca, Robert Goolrick’s novel A Reliable Wife, at Sony with Andrew Kevin Walker (Seven) writing.
The company’s first production, Chris Weitz’s A Better Life, was released by Summit on June 24.
Goldstein is repped by CAA and the Kneerim & Williams Agency.
