Meryl Streep Didn't Realize She Delivered DNC Scream That "Sounds Like Somebody's Being Murdered"
"I just was swept up with the moment," the actress told GMA's George Stephanopoulos.
Meryl Streep's exuberant scream at the beginning of her Democratic National Convention speech was the talk of the Internet two weeks ago but the actress said that at the time, she wasn't even aware that she'd delivered a viral moment.
"Sounds like somebody's being murdered," she joked of her scream, when a clip of the moment was played for her during an interview on Good Morning America on Tuesday. While promoting her upcoming film Florence Foster Jenkins, Streep spoke to George Stephanopoulos about her DNC excitement.
She laughed that now she knows what she sounded like as a cheerleader in high school, then said, "I didn't realize that I had done that actually. I just was swept up with the moment. It was pretty amazing. Moment in history."
Streep's speech about Clinton praised the Democratic presidential nominee and celebrated the historic moment.
"Hillary Clinton will be our first woman president, and she will be a great president, and she will be the first in a long line of women and men who serve with grit and grace," said Streep. "She'll be the first, but she won't be the last."
