Yellow was anything but mellow at this year’s Met Gala, with the shade popping up in various incarnations throughout the evening.

Katie Holmes wore an overpowering mustard-colored off-the-shoulder Marchesa gown, while Dree Hemingway channeled Grace Kelly with a sophisticated pastel yellow Proenza Schouler dress. Jourdan Dunn, on the other hand, took the color to the other end of the spectrum in a hard-to-miss figure-hugging neon yellow custom Topshop gown.

Stylist Micaela Erlanger -- who shot to fame with client Lupita Nyong’o during this year’s awards season -- had another red-carpet hit on her hands with Olivia Munn, who shone in a two-tone canary yellow and pastel-hued Diane von Furstenberg number with a plunging neckline.
