Met Gala 2014: The Rise of Short Hemlines

If we had stems like Solange Knowles or Michelle Williams, we'd show them off too.

Bare legs saw plenty of action at this year’s Met Gala, thanks to a number of northbound hemlines.

Lena Dunham’s gams were prominently on display in a Giambattista Valli Haute Couture strapless dress and matching shoes, and Solange Knowles stepped out in a sherbet-hued, ruffled Phillip Lim frock that ballooned at her knees -- and promptly stole the show from the songstress' newly debuted pixie cut, which replaced her signature Afro.

Meanwhile, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley went with a more streamlined route in a sleek, belted leopard-print Balmain thigh-grazer, paired with the designer’s gladiator heels. Michelle WIlliams also chose an above-the-knee look, stepping out in a sleeveless Louis Vuitton cocktail dress.
