Melissa Rivers Talks About the Met Gala Look Joan Rivers Would've Loved
Hint: It's a gown that caused the Internet to go into overdrive with omelet memes.
Monday's Met Gala saw all sorts of sheer silhouettes, gorgeous gowns and well, the downright wacky looks. While there have been endless lists of this year's best- and worst-dressed, the one fashion critic missed most is the late Joan Rivers. But thankfully daughter Melissa Rivers, who had a close relationship with her mama, has a pretty good idea of what the former Fashion Police host would have said about the ball's extravagant ensembles.
During an interview to promote her new book, Book of Joan, with E! host Alicia Quarles, Melissa says her mom would have loved Rihanna's meme-producing Guo Pei haute couture gown. "My mother would've said, 'That's how you make an entrance. That girl knows how to make an entrance,'" says Melissa. "If anyone is going to show up Beyoncé, it's Rihanna."
So, what would Joan have thought of Queen B's nearly naked outfit? "It was beautiful. She's beautiful. She knows how to rock a dress. I feel like we've seen her do this before," Melissa explains, noting that Joan would've have also pointed out, "Beautiful, perfect, wonderful but you've done this! You've done this!"
