Met Gala: No Selfies Allowed

Those who are planning to go on a selfie rampage (ahem, Kim Kardashian and krew) at Monday's Met Gala will have to think twice about that: the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Anna Wintour will not be having any of it.

A source close to Vogue tells Pret-a-Reporter that all guests have received a notice stating, "The use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted inside the gala." Vogue declined to comment.

It's not clear why the rule was implemented. The source also told us, "It has solely to do with guests’ security and enjoyment of the event," but there's been speculation the new policy is related to the documentary being filmed at the event regarding this year's Met Gala theme, "China: Through the Looking Glass."

The Met Gala isn't the first star-studded event to crack down on the ban of excessive photo-taking — this year's Cannes Film Festival is going to try and "slow down the process of selfies" on the red carpet while Coachella banned selfie sticks (and narsisstics) on the polo fields.
