MGM Billionaire Kirk Kerkorian Surprised with Flash Mob for His 95th Birthday (Video)
The former studio owner and Las Vegas casino magnate was ambushed at the Beverly Hills Hotel by wife Joan Dangerfield (widow of Rodney) and a chorus of dancers who waltzed to a song by The Shirelles.
Here's something you don't see every day: Former MGM owner and Las Vegas real estate magnate Kirk Kerkorian was surprised on his 95th birthday on Wednesday by a flash mob who danced around him on the grounds of the Beverly Hills Hotel to The Shirelles' song "To Know Him is to Love Him" -- a scene orchestrated by his fiancee, Joan Dangerfield.
As Dangerfield, 59 -- widow of late comedian Rodney Dangerfield -- sets it up in this video, the Beverly Hills Hotel is Kerkorian's favorite local hangout, where he was led to believe they would commemorate the milestone with a "quiet celebration."
But, Dangerfield continues, she wanted to do something to make the occasion more special for Kerkorian, who according to Forbes is worth $3.3 billion -- making him the 344th richest man in the world.
"What do you give the father of Las Vegas," Dangerfield asks, "who's a fromer professional boxer and a daredevil pilot, who basically epitomizes the American dream and has done so much for so many people?"
The answer to that queston is in the video above. [Forbes via LA Observed]
