Pam Silverstein is joining MGM's reconstituted worldwide motion picture group as director of development.

She will contribute to the acquisition, development and production of new material for MGM's burgeoning theatrical slate along with executive vp worldwide theatrical physical production Dan Kolsrud, who was hired last month; executive vp development Cale Boyter, who was hired from the folded New Line in March; and vp production Becky Sloviter.

Silverstein, who assumes the post this week, will report to MGM chair Mary Parent.

The Ontario native was working in the London offices of ICM before she moved to Ken Kamins' desk in the Los Angeles office of the agency. Eventually, she became a literary manager and producer at Kamins' Key Creatives, where she worked with clients Peter Jackson, Christopher McQuarrie and others.

Two years ago, she moved to New York to become manager of creative affairs at Scholastic Media, which focuses on children's entertainment. Throughout, she has represented or developed film, TV and book material.

"Pam … will be an integral part of the new MGM theatrical team," Parent said. (partialdiff)
